The first collection of macabre stories by Vincent James O'Sullivan (1868-1940), an American-born writer of poetry, fiction, and literary criticism. The book was published by Leonard Smithers in London, 1896.
This collection includes the following stories: "The Bargain of Rupert Orange", "My Enemy and Myself", "The Business of Madame Jahn", "A Study in Murder", "Original Sin", "When I Was Dead" [which became his most widely anthologized story], and "Hugo Raven's Hand".
